Kayle Cote van Rensburg
My name is Kayla Cote van Rensburg, I currently reside in Fargo, North Dakota where I run my business Cote Creative. Cote Creative is a design business, specializing in creative graphic design and visual design. I create custom graphic design work for businesses and start-ups to help with their branding, marketing as well as look and feel of their business. I am involved with design communities across the state of North Dakota. Most of my free time is spent designing clothing with my mother, designing furniture with my husband, traveling and taking in as many creative events as I can. I also enjoy spending quality time with my cat, Mr. Binx.
I first met Tori while visiting one of my favorite shops in town, Dakota Chappy, where Tori and I were introduced by the lovely, Miss Susie Lundmark. Tori and I immediately hit it off, talking about our love for fashion, design and being a creative.
- My number one style secret is to stay true to your own style. Amongst the slew of trends out there (some good, some not so good,) I always find I am most comfortable staying true to my own style.
- This leads me into my number two style secret, which is to try something new. One of my favorite design sites, Design Milk has tons of fashion design ideas as well as everything from furniture design to product design. Although I stay true to my own style, I try to try on at least one look which is different than what I would usually wear. This keeps my style fresh and new. I like to check out places like TJMAXX for something bold without spending a ton of money. I also shop local, visiting boutiques in downtown areas. Sometimes trying on something completely out of the norm works, sometimes it doesn't, but I never regret taking the time to expand my style flavor palette.
- My number three style secret is to keep it simple and keep it classic. A clean, classic look never goes out of style. To keep my look classic, I shop at H&M. Sustainability is key, and by building your wardrobe around classic pieces that never go out of style, you do just that. It also allows you to accessorize with new looks without blowing your budget. Use your staple pieces as a base, and accessorize with a new pair of trendy boots, a fun scarf or statement jewelry piece. The ultimate place to find both fun and sustainable pieces is to shop while you travel. You find one-of-a-kind pieces and usually come with a great story to tell!
